3M- 8979 Performance Plus Duct Tape

Constructed of polyethylene film laminated to cloth, backed by a rubber adhesive, this tape conforms to irregular and curved surfaces, resists curling, and tears off the roll cleanly for ease in application. It is an excellent choice for containment operations, where it provides a tight seal for attaching poly draping and closing cuffs.

Our Performance Plus Duct Tape 8979 was tested according to UL723, ASTM E84. It is 12.1 mils thick, has adhesion to steel of 48 oz/in, tensile strength of 36 lbs/in width and elongation at break of 19%. The tape can be used at temperatures up to 200 degrees F.

Originally developed for heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, duct tape is used today in a variety of maintenance, repair and construction settings. In addition to the traditional silver, we offer it in a variety of colors to enhance utility and aesthetics. Our sturdy cloth-reinforced tape can be torn from the roll and sticks instantly, providing solutions for patching, bundling, reinforcing, tabbing, taping/splicing insulation, capping pipe, securing conduit ends, marking, labeling, temporary repair, hanging polyethylene drapes and protecting against light sandblast overspray.
